 Of all the upright bass stands we have tested this is our choice as the best in the "foldable" category. It is very well made and the "foot print" is the largest making it the most stable. Endpin rests in a metal cup. Bass leans against adjustable padded arms.
This Hamiton bass stand is every bit as good as the "Konig and Meyer String Bass Stand" but for a lot less money. Also, although we sell the "Ingles Bass/ Cello" stand we do not recommend it for upright basses as it too tipsy in our opinion, the support arms can break under a bass's weight if pushed on a little, and the bass cuts thru the neoprene rubber on the support arms. The Ingles is great for cello, shouldn't be called a bass stand though.
